Championship leader Andrew 'DJ48' Waite of Auckland prepared for Round 3 of the UDC V8 Ute Championship at Teretonga Park near Invercargill this weekend by setting the fastest time in testing at the circuit today.
As the province of Southland celebrated the first significant rainfall since late November the UDC V8 Ute competitors splashed around the 2.64 kilometre circuit with Waite recording the days best time of 1 minute 19.802 seconds in the morning session in his Valvoline/Hydraulink Falcon. Auckland based Holden drivers, Peter 'Kaos' Ward and Chris 'Hammer Time' Hanley were second and third respectively.
Qualifying for the UDC V8 Ute category takes place at 11.35am on Saturday morning with the first of three races scheduled to be held later in the day. The opening race will be held over 8 laps from a marble draw grid. On Sunday another 8 lap contest, this one from a reverse marble draw grid, takes place at 10.38am with the third and final race of the round over 12 laps timed to start at 2.15pm on Sunday afternoon.
Support for the V8 Ute category comes from UDC Finance, Armorall, Xtreme Race Clutches, Nulon Oils, Radio Hauraki, Yokohama, Woodstock, BMC Air Filters, SCT and EFILive.
